Overview
Join our team as a Network Support Engineer, where your technical & analytical skills, proactive mindset, and passion for solving complex problems with the internet will come into play. You'll play a vital role in troubleshooting, enhancing, and optimizing our network infrastructure through our partnerships with the worlds biggest (and smallest)
Telecommunication, Satellite, Network, and Data Center operators. You'll be using some of the most advanced tools available for monitoring, alerting, and gathering multiple telemetry data sets in making quick decisions around peering & internet exchanges, fiber routes, low latency and round-trip times.
Mibura's Edge Cloud Operations & Innovation (ECO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services paving the way for a lower latency in an AI accelerated computing era. As a Connectivity Delivery Engineer, Cloud Interconnection + Wireless, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Mibura's online services including Global Silicon Services, Micro Services, Edge Gaming, Storage, and the edge network platform. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in networking OR equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in any of the following: Telco, Network Engineering, Network Operations Center, Data Center, Hyperscaler, or related
- Advanced knowledge of network fundamentals (network models, switching functions, routing functions, firewall functions)
- Advanced knowledge of network concepts (TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), switching, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN)
- A solid network foundation, proficient in various network protocols, routing protocols, exchange protocols, such as BGP, VXLAN, MPLS, SRTE and other technologies.
- Good learning ability, ability to solve problems independently, able to withstand pressure, and have a strong sense of work responsibility and professionalism.
Other Requirements:
The ability to meet Mibura, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- Mibura Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Mibura background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos)
- Advanced knowledge of network fundamentals (network models, switching functions, routing functions, firewall functions)
- Advanced knowledge of network concepts (TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), switching, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN)
- More than 3 years of experience in large-scale data center construction and management.
- Understand the current status of global operators' networks, and have experience in operator backbone network maintenance or tuning.
- A certificate of CCNP/CCIE or equivalent is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate between various support teams to identify the root cause of all Network Delivery problems, create supporting documentation and drive problem tasks to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that the right resources are available to investigate, identify, and resolve the root cause of a problem.
- Creating Root cause Analysis (RCA) and associated documents that identify and track problems through the lifecycle.
- The ability to assess & apply the right sense of urgency in driving resolution for problems to meet the business need and monitor the effectiveness of the implemented solution (measured impact)
- Responsible for both reactive and proactive problem management
- Continuously improve & maintain the problem management process and related procedures.
- Develop and implement reporting that provides tracking, pattern recognition (common problem categories, resolution techniques) and measures the effectiveness of problem management process.
- You will oversee the company's network infrastructure, including the operation of switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and other essential network devices.
- Conduct proactive network monitoring to identify and remedy any performance, security, or availability concerns.
- You will work closely with both internal teams and external clients to plan and execute updates and enhancements to the network infrastructure.
- Provide advanced technical support to tackle complex network issues and devising long-term solutions.
- You will be responsible for accurately documenting network configurations, operational procedures, and security policies.
- Your core responsibility will be to architect and deploy sophisticated network systems, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. This includes the adept implementation of switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
- You'll bring your expertise to the forefront in diagnosing and resolving network issues, leveraging diagnostic tools and protocols to ensure swift resolutions.
- You'll proactively analyze network performance, identify enhancement opportunities, and apply optimization techniques for traffic management and load balancing.
- Your exceptional problem-solving and communication skills will be key in providing top-notch technical support, ensuring minimal downtime and a smooth operational flow.
- Oversee network project implementations, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet our high standards.
- Maintain detailed records of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, as well as generating comprehensive reports on network performance and security audits.
- Forge collaborative relationships with telco providers and hardware manufacturers like Dell, Arista, Nokia and Juniper, cultivating strong connections with their technical support teams to optimize problem resolution and improve network infrastructure efficiency.
- You are the right person for this role if you are able to access network CPE/NTU device and perform basic internet testing.
